The Science

Why Infrared?

Infrared saunas work differently to traditional steam saunas — and for most people, that difference is everything. Lower temperatures, deeper heat penetration, and a gentler experience that you can actually sustain as a daily ritual.

How It Works

Heat That Works From the Inside Out

Traditional saunas heat the air around you to extreme temperatures — often 80–100°C — which then heats your body from the outside in. Infrared saunas work differently. They emit infrared light that is absorbed directly by your body, warming you from within at a much more comfortable 45–60°C. The result is a deeper, more effective sweat at a temperature most people find far easier to tolerate — and to sustain.

The Benefits

What People Use Infrared Saunas For

The following reflects common reasons people use infrared saunas and general wellness literature. It does not constitute medical advice. Consult your healthcare professional before use if you have any medical condition.

Muscle Recovery

Infrared heat penetrates deep into muscle tissue, helping to ease tension and support recovery after exercise. Many athletes and active people use infrared saunas as part of their regular recovery routine.

Relaxation and Stress Relief

The warmth of an infrared sauna promotes relaxation and helps the body shift out of a stress response. Regular sessions are associated with improved sleep quality and a greater sense of calm.

Circulation Support

Infrared heat causes blood vessels to dilate, which may support healthy circulation. The effect is similar to mild cardiovascular exercise — without the exertion.

Skin Wellness

The deep sweat produced in an infrared sauna helps to cleanse pores and may contribute to clearer, healthier-looking skin over time with regular use.

Detoxification

Sweating is one of the body's natural detoxification pathways. Infrared saunas produce a deeper, more profuse sweat than traditional saunas, which many users find beneficial.

Joint Comfort

The penetrating warmth of infrared heat may help to ease joint stiffness and discomfort, making it popular with people managing the effects of an active lifestyle or the natural ageing process.

Low-EMF Technology

Why Low-EMF Matters

All saunas in our range use low-EMF (electromagnetic field) infrared heaters. EMF is a natural by-product of any electrical device, but in a sauna — where you sit in close proximity to the heaters for extended periods — the level matters. Our heaters are independently tested and certified to emit EMF levels well within internationally recognised safety guidelines, so you can relax with confidence.

EMF certification details are available on request. Ask our team in the showroom or contact us for documentation.
